Moultrie looks to make saggy pants a thing of the past
The Moultrie City Commission is in process of creating a new ordinance under public indecency law.
Under the law, people aren't allowed to walk around with saggy pants or pants that fall too far below their waist.
Mayor William McIntosh of Moultrie said he hopes that this is something that will help make the city look better. He adds that this change comes after a group approached the city commission saying this is something that offended them.
McIntosh said they took the idea to their city attorney who looked at other cities ordinances and who wrote one for them as well.
FOX 31 also spoke to Albany City Commissioner Tommie Postell who said Albany has adopted this ordinance and have already seen improvement.
Postell said he was offended by this problem himself; he says he would walk into a restaurant and see someone's rear end which obviously took away his appetite. If it was offending him, he knew it was offending others as well
He adds that he is glad Moultrie is adopting it and hope other cities will do the same.
