Morning burglary call turns into shots fired at police
An early morning burglary call turns into shots fired as police from two agencies respond.
Police say that early Tuesday morning, a burglary call came in for 506 Haley Street, Apt 6. The caller told dispatch that people were at the door and trying to make their way in.
Officers say that upon arrival, they heard a female screaming, and more officers arrived shortly soon after. Gunshots were heard after that.
One officer was struck and taken to the hospital with a grazed arm according to investigators.
Officers believed that there was possibly three suspects still inside and armed and the SWAT team was activated. Upon entry to the house, no suspects were located. Police are now canvassing the scene.
Victims included in this case are: Patrolman Willie Hall (gunshot wound to the arm), Patrolman Torrance Bryant, Patrolman Richard Brown, Patrolman Dominic Figueroa, Patrolman Robert Cannon, Patrolman Kim Privette, Mehailjah Gaines (age 20), Kentrayal Harris (age 29), Corliss Jones (age 49) and Arthur Johnson (age 50).
