Morning accident detours commuters

THIRD UPDATE (11:15 AM):
Corporal Massey with the Georgia State Patrol confirms that a Coffee County EMS was traveling from Douglas to Ocilla with lights and sirens on along Highway 32 in Irwin County.A vehicle, traveling Eastbound on Highway 32, in front of a tractor trailer slowed to allow the ambulance to pass. The tractor trailer behind the slowing vehicle applied the brakes, they locked, and caused the semi to jack-knife into the Westbound lane where the ambulance struck the front of the trailer.
The EMT driver, 44-year-old, Teresa Davis from Axon, 56-year-old EMT Randall Whiddon, from Ashburn, and the 65-year-old patient, Charles Smith, from Fitzgerald were killed in the collision.
The driver of the tractor trailer, Rockwell Lott, from Tifton, was sent to the hospital for treatment.
GSP SCRT team is still on scene investigating and charges are pending.
Officials say that the final debris from the accident is being removed and roadways will be open Thursday afternoon.
SECOND UPDATE (10:45 AM):EMA officials confirm that an ambulance was transporting a patient from Coffee Regional Medical Center to Tift Regional Medical Center for treatment with lights and sirens on.The semi-truck slowed to allow the ambulance to pass when the brakes locked-up, causing the semi-truck to jack-knife and hit the ambulance.
The three passengers in the ambulance have been killed and the driver of the tractor trailer has been taken to the hospital for treatment.
FIRST UPDATE (10:00 AM):
A FOX 31 Reporter on scene says that traffic is still backed up in both directions due to a serious early morning accident involving a Coffee County Regional Medical Center ambulance and tractor trailer.
A fire truck, an ambulance, Georgia State Patrol cruisers and the Irwin County Sheriff's Office are still on scene investigating.
Tractors are being used to remove debris from the accident scene.
If traveling along Highway 32, commuters will be asked to turn around at Evergreen Drive and Holt Road.
Officials responded to an accident along Highway 32 East around 5am near Irving Road at the Ben Hill and Irwin County line.The Georgia State Patrol is on scene investigating.
