A man has been arrested after police found a moonshine still at his home.

51-year-old Jessie Willis was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.

The Dougherty County Police worked with state probation and searched Willis' home Friday afternoon.

Police found a shotgun inside the home along with a moonshine still. Willis is a convicted felon so it is illegal for him to have that gun.

Part of the still was found inside his Hedder Street home, and the other part was found in a shed nearby.

Dougherty County police say here in Georgia, it's illegal to distill spirits without a proper license.

Lieutenant Chad Kirkpatrick says this isn't something they come across very often here in Southwest Georgia as it's the first case like this he's seen in 13 years.

He says other charges may come up and the investigation is ongoing.
