Officials with the Southeast Health District have announced that the Atkinson County Commission has temporarily closed the Atkinson County Health Department building due to the discovery of mildew and mold in several rooms.

They say that a preliminary investigation discovered water under the building, which may be the cause of this problem.

Officials believe that the relocation may take at least two weeks, but for the meantime, residents can call 1-855-473-4374 to find out when and where they may receive services. If you have a current appointment, you will be contacted for a rescheduling.

"We are working with the county commission to get this issue resolved," said Dr. Rosemarie Parks, Southeast Health District Medical Director. "Until then, we will do everything we can to make sure Atkinson County residents receive the Public Health services they need."
