      MLCB celebrates Earth Day

For the 11th straight year, kids got down and dirty planting flowers and vegetables

Today marks the 40th anniversary of Earth Day and the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany celebrated in its own way by picking up trash on base and much more. For the 11th straight year, kids got down and dirty planting flowers and vegetables.

CDC Director Dorothy Bryant says teaching the importance of preservation needs to be done early.

"The child is taught only what you teach him, so if you start at an early age, it will grow up in that child. Some of these kids started out as infants, so they look forward to this day every year," said Bryant.

MCLB Commanding Officer Col. Terry V. Williams was on hand to help the youngsters plant flowers as well.
