Miscommunication leads to firefighter gear issues

About 25 Worth County firemen and volunteer firemen will have to go without new gear until December; gear they were supposed to have in August.

Due to miscommunication between the Board of Commissioners and fire officials, the original order that was placed for the gear was somehow canceled. In the meeting this morning the commissioners nor fire officials had any idea as to how the order was canceled.

But Captain Tom Whittington said there's no use in making assumptions, the bottom line is they need to get the ball rolling again and order the gear as soon as possible.

The current fire gear has almost reached its limit of ten years so to be up to code, they need the new gear. There are also currently nine volunteer fire fighters completely without gear. Officials say they worked hard to complete the training and get to where they are and they at least deserve to have what they need to go and fight fires.
