New jobs could possibly be coming to Albany's Marine Corps Logistics Base.
Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Southeast awarded a $4.5 million contract to Facility Improvement Services LLC out of Columbus, Georgia.
The company is a small business that provided services to the base.
MCLB officials say this multi-million-dollar contract will enable them to accomplish maintenance and repair projects such as boiler and elevator inspections.
The money will also be used to decrease response time for maintenance problems.
"It's one more tool that I have to help keep the people working, keep the lights on, support the missions on the base, support the marines on the base and support the marines down range," said Marine Corps Logistics Base Public Works Officer Jeff Benjamin.
When asked about the possibility of new jobs coming to the area, Benjamin said the company receiving the funds will determine the requirements they'll have to meet and how many positions they'll need to fill.
