Albany Police Chief John Proctor is advising residents to stay off the roadway if possible during freezing weather.

He released a statement saying, "Over the next couple of days, we will be experiencing some extremely cold temperatures. There is a chance of rain and sleet in the forecast which can lead to icy conditions on the roadways. And the best advice for driving during icy winter weather is not to drive at all, if you can avoid it. So please keep all weather precautions in mind. If you can, stay home and stay warm."
