Mental health building not up to standards

County commissioners made a recommendation Monday morning to accept a bid for the Dougherty County Mental Health facility renovation.
Officials with the facility told FOX 31 they are no longer up to standards and to be there they need to renovation the bathrooms and the sprinklers.
Commissioners were seemingly okay with the project but worried there was only one bid. Chairman Jeff Sinyard said, "We as a commission are surprise there aren't more bids," and county administrator Richard Crowdis said, "if there wasn't a time limit we would re-bid."
But, there is a time limit, so commissioners will have to go with the only bidder meeting specifications which is Newel Construction for a bid amount of $481,577.
