The Marine Corps Logistics Base recognized April as "Child Abuse Prevention Month" today.
The base honored organizations and people who work to help keep kids safe. MCLB officials say child abuse is a problem that must not be overlooked.
"It's a terrible, terrible problem that we have in this community and every community. We are just going to issue a proclamation aboard the base to announce to everybody that it's Child Abuse Awareness Month," said Colonel C. N. Haliday.
