The Commissary at Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany is set to resume normal operations August 17th after the number of required number of civilian furloughs the base was required to take was lowered.
"Prior to the furloughs, the Base Commissary was normally closed on Mondays. Because of this, we used Tuesdays as our mandated furlough day," Cynthia Blair, store director, Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany, said. "Now that things are going back to normal, I would like to thank all our patrons for their patience during the furlough period."
The MCLB Albany Commissary will return to its normal hours of operation on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and will be closed on Sundays and Mondays.
That announcement came from Defense Commissary Agency Director and Chief Executive Officer Joseph Jeu in the wake of the Defense Department's Aug. 6 decision to reduce furloughs of its civilian workforce from 11 to six days.
