Martin Luther King Day celebrations
The Boys and Girls Club partnered with the East Town Civic League and Jackson Heights Elementary School to put on a family Martin Luther King Day Celebration for the community.
During the event families participated in a food box giveaway, games, and got to meet officials from around the community, all while remembering and learning about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The Mayor of Albany, Dorothy Hubbard, attended today's event and said even though the Civil Rights Movement was years ago, it's still so important to teach today's children about that time in our country's history. She said it's important to instill the same values that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had, in today's children and young adults.
