The Marine Corps Logistics Command has activated the Marine Depot Maintenance Command.
This new organization center has combined resources with the Albany, Georgia and Barstow, California under a single headquarters with two plant operations providing innovative worldwide maintenance repairs and technical services for ground combat and development support.
FOX 31 got reaction after the Thursday morning ceremony from a military official.
"I'm extremely happy, extremely motivated, by doing this. I can't think of anything better to do in the Marine Corps than to be here in Albany on this day representing the workforce and the people in Albany and Barstow," said Col. Stephen Medeiros, of Marine Depot Maintenance Command.
This activation will reduce overhead functions that are associated with two separate commands, standardize processes between the two industrial plants and increase efficiency.
