Blue Cross Blue Shield and the March of Dimes has teamed together to help southwest Georgia babies live a healthy life.
The Southwest Georgia Public Health District has been awarded a $30,000 grant for its Centering Program.
The program provides prenatal care, support and education to low income mothers.
The centering program has reduced pre-term birth rates nationwide by 33 percent and the numbers are even higher in southwest Georgia.
"As a result of our ability to show how our patients are doing well, when you compare them to the general prenatal population in this area, we've been very successful in garnering grants," said Dr. Jacqueline Grant, Southwest Georgia Public Health.
Dr. Grant says this program helps give babies a chance at a strong future.
