Man hospitalized from flesh eating disease

A Colquitt County man has been released from the hospital after he contracted a flesh eating disease.

The 23 year old was taken to Colquitt Regional Medical Hospital after he was diagnosed with having "Necrotizing Fasciitis"

Officials with Colquitt Regional Medical Center say the bacteria spread so quickly that his arm had to be removed just hours after he was infected.

Georgia Public Health Department officials say the disease is not contagious and isn't airborne.
