Man arrested for Verizon Wireless burglary
The man responsible for a burglary at the Verizon Wireless store on Cordele Road has been arrested.
20-year-old Darius Jamohn Polite was picked up in the 500 block of North Hailey Wednesday just after 5:30 p.m. Polite was taken to the Law Enforcement Center for questioning then arrested and taken to the Dougherty County Jail.
Polite was also charged with criminal trespass at Woodall's and Subway on North Jefferson Street. Nothing was taken.
Detectives linked Polite to all three break-ins after Uniform Officers found a Dougherty County High School Student I.D., belonging to Polite, on the floor at the Verizon location. The Verizon burglary occurred on July 23rd. Officers responded to a burglary in progress call at about 3:56 a.m. When they arrived, they found the front door glass broken. It appeared someone had thrown a rock and smashed the door. After gaining entry, the suspect ransacked file cabinets and the register but nothing was taken.
