It was a final farewell to a man many people call a "hero," Dougherty County Police Lt. Cliff Rouse was shot and killed in the line of duty last week.
A funeral service was held for Rouse at Gillionville Baptist Church Tuesday.
Hundreds of people came out to pay their respect, some law enforcement officers came from as far away as Maryland.
"You just never know what you're dealing with and who you're dealing with so you've got to be prepared all the time," said Capt. Russell Barnes of the Albany Police Department.
"We're all in the law enforcement family, when we lose one; we come together as a family," said Capt. Sam Eaton of the Early County Sheriff's Department.
A procession led to Rouse's final resting place in Newton Georgia. He is survived by his wife, 13-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter.
