The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office has announced an arrest after a midnight bust in the county.
Officials say that shortly after midnight, investigators from the Special Operations Division of the Sheriff's Office conducted a search of a residence in the 2000 block of Bradley Street in Valdosta.
During the search, investigators say they located a small amount of cocaine, a loaded .357 handgun and items used for the distribution of cocaine such as scales and plastic baggies.
The resident of the home, 28-year-old Donnell Mathis, was arrested. Additional investigation revealed that Donnell Mathis is a convicted felon and therefore barred by law from possessing any firearms.
Mathis has been charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of tools for the commission of a crime. Mathis has been arrested and taken to the Lowndes County Jail.
