The Crisp County Sheriff's Office has announced Sheriff Donnie Haralson has been placed on hospice following a 10-year battle with renal cell carcinoma.

The office made the news public on their Facebook page Tuesday afternoon saying the cancer had spread to the sheriff's brain and the family made the decision as a way to help his wife in taking care of him.

The office went on to say Sheriff Haralson is a fierce fighter and a man of faith who continues to have good quality days and days where he needs rest.

FOX 31 would like to express their well-wishes to Sheriff Haralson and his family as he continues to battle the disease.
