Local Red Cross needs community to step up

Officials with the Red Cross say they have about 7 to 10 people come in to donate per day, and that's just not enough.
Lena Thomas, the team supervisor, said their shelves are pretty well stocked right now when it comes to blood but they do need people with type O blood to come in and donate.
While they may be okay right now on blood, they are in need of something else, platelets.
Thomas says platelets are used for patients who receive chemotherapy and radiation treatments and they are always running into a shortage of this. She says they only have a 5 day shelf life so they are constantly needing more.
