The Wounded Veterans of Southwest Georgia kicked off a weekend full of events for veterans on Thursday afternoon.

The organization selected 21 veterans to participate in their weekend hunt.

The weekend starts off with a veteran meet and greet.

After the meet and greet there was a motorcade throughout Leesberg to honor the veterans.

The veterans then went on a hunt following the procession.

On Saturday, they will have a concert open to the public at Chehaw. The concert starts at 7 p.m.

Darren Robinson, Australian liaison for Wounded Veterans, stated it's really important to have this event so that veterans can come together. He says, " From what we know veterans heal better when they’re around each other.”

This is the third year this event has been held. Chad Gunter with Wounded Veterans of Southwest Georgia said it continues to get bigger every year.
