City and County officials gathered Friday morning downtown to kick off Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful's Great American Cleanup event.
Judy Bowles, the executive director, says it's important for city leaders to set the example. She feels if the community sees officials picking up trash then they will follow their lead.
Bowles says last year they removed nearly 22 tons of litter from over 140 miles of roadside.
