If an emergency were to happen at any moment on Darton State or Albany State's campus, extra law enforcement would now be at the ready.

This all in place after a renewed memorandum was put in place.

On Monday, the Dougherty County Commission approved the memorandum of understanding which gives other agencies the right to assist Darton and ASU Police in any emergency situations.

The agreement specifically details each agencies role from their rights and privileges all the way to expenses.

Chief John Fields with the Albany Police Department says, "you always have to be thinking in the future what if something happens, how are we going to respond to that situation?"

Chief Cynthia Battle says, "we don't have to discuss manpower, we don't have to discuss who's paying for equipment, who's paying for the manpower. all of that is already in the agreement.

Officials say none of this is an extra burden for tax payers.
