According to the Moultrie Observer, the Winn Dixie in Moultrie is one of thirteen stores set to close this year.

Store #101 in Moultrie will misplace about 80 jobs. Bi-Lo Holdings, parent company to Winn Dixie, announced 13 stores in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina will be closing. The Federal Trade Commission approved Bi-Lo to inherit Sweetbay, Harveys and Reid's supermarket chain stores owned by Delhaize America.

Bi-Lo says it was necessary to close down five Bi-Lo stores and eight Delhaize America stores due to many located in close proximity to each other.

There is an average of 85 employees per store. The one in Moultrie will be shutting down on June 14, 2014.

Moultrie Resident, Marvin Bailey says he's not sure where he'll shop now because he felt the most comfortable at Winn Dixie.
