Local dancers come together for Nutcracker ballet

The Nutcracker Ballet is coming to Albany just in time for Christmas.

According to a press release issued by Ballet Theatre South, the Christmas classic "The Nutcracker" will be coming to the Albany Municipal Auditorium November 30th through December 2nd.

After spring auditions, almost 50 dancers from Dougherty, Lee, and Terrell counties have been rehearsing since August to prepare for the Nutcracker production. Local dancers Morgan Ethridge, 15, and Emma Twiggs, 14, will be sharing the lead role of Clara, and Jesse Middlebrooks, 16, will be performing the role of the Nutcracker Prince. These three and dancers from local dance studios will be joined by principal dancer Stacy Mathis and guest artists from Tallahassee, including Charles Hagan as Drosselmeyer.

Performances are scheduled for Friday, November 30th at 7:30 ($10 reserved seating), and Saturday, Dec. 1 and Sunday, Dec. 2 at 2:30 ($15 reserved seating). Tickets are available by phone at 449-1935 and at the auditorium Monday through Wednesday from 5:30 â" 7:30 PM, or one hour prior to each performance.
