      Local church 'tweets' their message

Senior pastor Doug Rea tweets during their service at Connections Church in Albany

Social media like Facebook and Twitter are becoming household names, and that's the motivation behind Doug Rea's twitter updates â" from church.

The nondenominational Connections church in Albany is one of a growing number of faith-based groups using social media. Rea, the senior pastor, first started "tweeting" during service last week, and they've already seen their Twitter followers increase. With more and more people joining social networks every day, Rea says it just makes sense to bring the written word into the digital world.

"If you're gonna fish, go where the fish are, and everybody's relating these days, connecting to each other on social networks. So we just decided to plug in facebook. Plug in twitter and start there," Rea said.
