Local church spending weekends clearing up storm debris
Two local churches spent the weekend clearing up storm debris left by Hurricane Irma.
Leesburg United Methodist and the Church of Latter Day Saints in Albany met at 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning to clear storm debris that has been collecting in people's yards.
According to Sean Nix, Vice President of the Methodist Men, over 40 people showed up on Saturday to volunteer.
The volunteers were able to help 18 different families.
As of Monday, Nix told FOX 31, there are still two families who need help clearing their yards.
Nix and some other members of the church will also spent this Saturday cleaning up yards that still have storm debris.
Nix is honored to help out the community in this way.
“There’s more people in this community than you think that need help. And that’s one thing were doing with this, you know, it’s just helping people. And I really do, I get a true blessing out of it.”
