Right now, two liquid waste pits at the Dougherty County Landfill needs repairs done.

We've now learned those repairs will happen soon.

Last week, the Dougherty County Commission approved $135,000 in funding to fix the pits.

Now, that the approval is here, Scott Addison with the Landfill explains what's next.

"We move through contract negotiations and if we're able to successfully sign and negotiate the contract with this construction firm then we will begin construction."

Once construction starts, it will take about 60 days to complete.

The pits are currently used to manage liquid waste.
