Lily Pad, DFCS honors child abuse victims

Lily Pad is holding an event to honor and remember victims of child abuse and sexual assault, including 19-month-old Janaysia Stevenson

April is Child Abuse Awareness Month and Sexual Assault Prevention Month, and the Dougherty County Department of Family and Children Services says they are helping Lily Pad get the word out.

Lily Pad is hosting an event, "One Child. One Story. One Place." in memory of 19-month-old Janaysia Stevenson, the young girl who died in March from internal injuries as a result of abuse by her mother's boyfriend Gregory Keith Evans, 28.

Lily Pad staff, Board of Directors, Multi-Disciplinary Team, Downtown Albany Merchants, Family Protection Unit, Child Protective Services and SW Georgia Law Enforcement are sponsoring the event, which will be on April 20 at 11:30 a.m. at the Lily Pad center.

Pinwheels will be placed as a tribute to the victims they have served. If you would like to sponsor a pinwheel, call (229) 435-0074 or email
