      Life lost in morning accident

      SECOND UPDATE (1:45 PM): Albany police say that Brown has been charged with vehicular homicide, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, expired license, DUI refusal, DUI Less Safe, and seatbelt violation.FIRST UPDATE (10:45 AM):

      The Albany Police Department confirms that the driver of the Chevy Impala is 23-year-old Amber Marie Kelly Brown and was taken to Phoebe for treatment.

      The passenger, 28-year-old Damian Antoine Johnson, was deceased at the scene.

      The driver of the city street sweeper is 29-year-old Eldric Coleman.

      Brown is a current student at ASU. Johnson was a former student. Both are from the Atlanta area.

      Charges are pending at this time.

      ORIGINAL STORY:Officers were called to an accident at the Liberty Expressway and Clark off-ramp early Wednesday morning.

      APD officials confirm that a Chevy Impala was traveling west on the Liberty Expressway headed towards Blaylock and hit the rear of a street sweeper.

      The driver lost control of the vehicle, crossed the grass median and struck a guard rail where the car came to a rest.

      Two passengers were in the vehicle, a male and a female. The male is deceased and the female sustained injuries.

      The Albany Police Department Traffic Unit is on scene and will continue the investigation.
