Let's go fishing in the catfish hole

Kids grabbed their fishing poles Saturday to kick-off the first day of catfish season at Chehaw Park.

Affectionately called, "The Catfish Rodeo," the Department of Natural Resources stoked the catfish pound and allowed children under the age of 15 to fish for free until noon.

After the event, the pond opened to the public for fishing, and will remain open until October of 2013.

Officials say this is just another example of Chehaw and DNR partnering to get children and families outside and immersed into nature.
