Lee County works to streamline geographic data
The Lee County Geographical Information System Committee met Wednesday afternoon to talk about updating their database to become more efficient.
Officials say multiple departments use the GIS information which is an overview of all of the geographic data within the county from the buildings and their entryways to what types of utilities they use, and say they're now working to get that information in once place.
"We're going to see what it's going to take to get us to where we can compile all of our information on a single database and then begin to add to those layers," said Lee County Board of Commissioners Chair Rick Muggridge.
Officials say it's going to take some time while each department submits what they have, but once it's put together it will help everyone work together more smoothly and build a better communication throughout the county.
