Lee County volunteers recovering after accident
Volunteers with the Rivers Alive cleanup event ended their day Saturday with a trip to the emergency room.
The volunteer van had broken down and pulled over to the side of Highway 118 and a Leesburg Police Tahoe pulled over to help. Shortly after, a tractor trailer came around the corner, hit the Tahoe, and side swiped the van.
Twelve volunteers were sent to the hospital but were released the same day.
Georgia State Patrol officers are still investigating as to who is at fault and if charges will be filed.
