Lee County students celebrate Dr. Seuss, reading

Students and teachers in costume

Students at Lee County Primary School found a unique way to celebrate the birthday of renowned children's author Theodor Geisel - better known as Dr. Seuss.

Children and teachers spent today costumed as their favorite literary character.

Popular choices included Harry Potter, Pink-a-Licious, and Curious George.

"We work with young children, kindergarten through second grade, so we think this is the best time to start the relationship with books and a lifelong love of reading," said first grade teacher Jaimie Murdock.

Seuss wrote 44 children's book including Green Eggs and Ham and The Cat in the Hat.
