Lee County officials are expecting quite a bit of traffic in the area tonight and through the rest of the holiday weekend.

FOX 31 went on a ride-a-long today with Major Keith Houston who said he has extra officers on duty tonight and tomorrow to monitor traffic in the area.

Houston said they've already had a pretty busy day stopping people for traffic violations.

He says first and foremost it's illegal to speed in the first place, but beyond that, especially in this weather it's just flat out dangerous.

Houston also said like always, they will be looking out for people driving under the influence.

He said especially on holidays, people think its okay to have a few drinks and then drive home but it's not.

By having extra men on patrol he hopes Lee County and the surrounding areas will stay clam and safe throughout the rest of the holiday weekend.
