Luke Bryan's title changed from host of the Academy of Country Music Awards to the show's top winner after he was named Entertainer of the Year Sunday night.

The Leesburg native only began headlining his own tours last year and surprised many with his win, except Lee County natives.

Kathy Laramore says she was so happy for him that she began crying and she feels it's not only wonderful for Bryan but it puts Leesburg on the map as well.

Gladies Armendariz says she thinks this is great for other music hopefuls from the area because it shows them that achieving success is possible.

Bryan beat out big names such as Taylor Swift, Jason Aldean and fellow co-host Blake Shelton for the honor, and his own surprise showed during his emotional speech.

Bryan is the first male recipient of the award since 2007.
