Since southwest Georgia is seeing severe drought, Lee County officials said they are in the process of working to make sure their residents are water conscious.
In Tuesday's Lee County Commissioners meeting, officials briefly addressed the issue of setting a water ordinance. Under the law, residents would only be able to use water during certain times of the day.
Also on the agenda for the meeting, officials said they want to make sure code enforcement personnel are protected while on the job. When the officers are out in public often times they encounter hostile situations with no backup, said authorities.
Commission Chair Ed Duffy and others suggested giving the workers firearms as protection.
The Lee County Board of Commissioners will vote on these issues during its next meeting on August 23rd.
