The Lee County Commission met Tuesday evening and discussed multiple items including the progress of cross training their EMS staff to become firefighters.
Officials are working to expand fire protection in the county and say the cross training merger will ultimately help lower the ISO rating. When the participants are done with the training they will be state certified fire fighters and Assistant Fire Chief Paul Branch says so far everything is 'smooth sailing'. "The paramedics have really stepped up to the plate. They're real eager and right now we're ahead of schedule with everything and it's just a work in progress. When it's all said and done I think it'll benefit the citizens of Lee County" says Branch.
Commissioners also heard an update on the ongoing transportation project and how funding is being allocated.
