All new students to the Lee County School System will have to register through the newly created central registrar beginning this summer.
Currently parents have to register a student at the specific school they will attend, however this new system will streamline the registration process.
Superintendent Dr. Lawrence Walters says feedback from parents after a trial run this semester was positive. "It's like one stop shopping. You go to one location, fill out the forms, show proof of residence, and register all of the kids at one place" says Walters.
One person will be entering in the data, which the board says will minimize the chance for human error in the system.
The school board also approved the modified school calendar for next year that includes the eight furlough days for faculty and staff.
