Law enforcement and the public coming together over coffee

Bringing law enforcement and the public together one cup of coffee at a time; that's the idea behind Coffee with a Cop.

On Friday, officers with the Albany Police Department will be at the McDonald's on North Slappey Boulevard relaxing and having coffee with Albany residents.

Officials with the APD say it's a great way for residents to see officers out from behind their patrol vehicles and in a more neutral environment.

APD Public Relations & Media Manager Phyllis Banks says, "this will give citizens the opportunity to discuss any issues or bring forth any questions that they've been dying to ask the Albany Police Department."

This is the first Coffee with a Cop event in Georgia and the first of three scheduled for Albany police.

The next one will be held July 26th at the South Albany McDonald's, and the third one will be on August the second at the East Albany location on Oglethorpe.
