Jury selection begins for an Albany man accused of killing his girlfriend TMs 3-year-old son.
18-year-old Vincent Soilberry is named in a six-count indictment charging him with malice murder and felony murder in the death of 3-year-old Shondarius Roney. According to the indictment, Soilberry is accused of beating Roney before placing him in a bathtub to simulate drowning, to cover up the crime. Police initially responded to a drowning at the boy TMs mother TMs home on South Jackson Avenue, May 2. When first responders couldn TMt revive Roney, the county TMs Child Death Investigative Unit was called in.
The indictment states that Soilberry maliciously beat the 3-year-old in the head, chest and torso, resulting in a lacerated liver, fractured ribs, bruising about the body and contusions to the lungs and heart.
