June starts out busy for Douglas - Coffee Drug Unit

The Douglas Coffee County Drug Unit had an early start in June with multiple arrests on June 5 and 6.

According to Sheriff's officials, the first arrest on the 5th came when deputies initiated a traffic stop on West Ward Street in Douglas.

During the stop, officers found 17 Valium, two types of Xanax and Lorcet tablets.

Henry Youngblood was arrested for possession of a Schedule III Controlled Substance and three counts of possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance.

The second arrest came as deputies were dispatched to Wilcox Garage on Georgia Highway 32 W in Douglas in reference to a man pointing a gun at a woman.

Deputies say they discovered a .270 rifle in Anthony Wilcox's vehicle. Wilcox was arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

A third arrest on June 5 came as part of an investigation into a burglary that led investigators to a residence on Meadowbrook Lane. There they found a stolen vehicle, firearms, laptops, and two ounces of marijuana.

DCDU detectives arrested Jayvia Lott and charged him with felony possession of marijuana and theft by receiving stolen property.

Finally, on June 6, K-9 officers swept the parking lot of Elixir Industries in Douglas at their request. During the sweep, officers discovered a vehicle owned by Devan Shireman believed to have had illegal drugs. The company escorted Shireman to his vehicle and admitted to officers he had drugs.

Officers found powdered cocaine in the vehicle and Shireman was arrested for possession of cocaine.
