Girls Inc. of Albany, GA is bringing a global movement to educate girls and change the world from Albany, GA with International Day of the Girl.
And because of that Albany Mayor Dorothy Hubbard will stood along with Girls Inc. of Albany to bring attention to this important day by proclaiming Friday, October 11th as International Day of the Girl.
On that day, Girls Inc. will host a Bring a Friend to Girls Inc. event in collaboration with WellCare of Georgia and Vital Smiles of Albany.
There girls will be able to visit for free and get free dental screenings, giveaways, food and fun!
Also on this day, Girls Inc. will collaborate with MCLB to host a screening of the powerful documentary, "Girl Rising."
Officials say Girl Rising is a groundbreaking feature film that spotlights the stories of nine unforgettable girls born into unforgiving circumstances.Sherrell Alexander, Executive Director of Girls Inc. says this day honor has been long overdue. "We live in a world were girls are not given the respect that they should in many parts of the world, girls are devalued, they aren't given a good opportunity to have a good education and so many doors and opportunities are closed to girls."
