Investigator in good spirits after being hit by a car
Following surgery, Investigator Julie Wood is in good spirits according to Dougherty County Sheriff Kevin Sproul.
Wood was off duty when she was hit by a 2005 Lexus driven by Victoria Carwile Thursday evening. Carwile was trying to park in front of the Dollar General store on Robert B. Lee Drive in Leesburg when the accident happened.
GSP Trooper Walter Spurlin tells FOX 31 News Carwile's brakes failed when she was parking. At the same time, Wood was walking on the sidewalk in front of the store.
Wood received injuries to both of her legs and is recovering after surgery at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Trooper Spurlin says no charges will be filed.
