Investigation open into Mother's Day murder, armed robbery in Tifton
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Tift County Sheriff's Office are investigating a Mother's Day murder and armed robbery in Tifton.
The GBI said 47-year-old Zeni Travis and her mother, a cab driver, picked up a passenger on Emerson O. Bynes Avenue and asked to be taken to Mathis Street. The passenger then shot Travis and robbed her mother before running away, according to the GBI.
Travis was taken to Tift Regional Medical Center before 2 a.m. Sunday and died there of her injuries.
The GBI said the person who shot Travis is described as a black male.
