Inmate gets 10 minutes of freedom before recapture
One Dougherty County inmate's freedom didn't last long Friday afternoon after a 10 minute run from deputies.
Sheriff's officials say that Johnny Lee Wilson Jr. was assigned to a work detail and was returning to the jail when he jumped out of the vehicle on Merritt Street near the intersection of Mulberry Avenue.
Multiple deputies responded and Wilson was back in custody about 10 minutes later after being caught on Wheeler Avenue near Dewey Street.
Wilson was serving time for forgery, battery, theft by taking and probation violation, but will now face a charge of felony escape.
