Hung Jury in Turner County murder trial
A Turner County woman, Debra Pilkinson, has been on trial for the murder of her husband, 62-year-old Morris Pilkinton Jr. which occurred on March 1, 2013.
According to Worthit2u.net after two days of trial, closing arguments, and deliberation, the trial was ruled as having a hung jury.
Pilkinton allegedly told Turner County Sheriff Andy Hester after the incident that she shot her husband and was tired of the abuse.
Pilkinton's daughter, Kelly Pilkinton, testified she hear the shot from another room, burst through her parents' bedroom and saw her mother standing beside the bed with a gun. Mr. Pilkinton was lying on the side of the bed and was unresponsive. Prosecutors played the recording of the 911 call which described Kelly as being distraught and Debra as being cold.
The jury remained at 11-1 on Thursday and the judge ruled a hung jury in the murder trial. Pilkinton will likely remain in jail until another trial is scheduled.
