Human trafficking expert talks to local crime stoppers
Albany-Dougherty crime stoppers held a meeting Tuesday afternoon to hear from Dave McCleary, an expert on human trafficking from the Atlanta area.
McCleary told stories of juveniles that were trafficked in Georgia to make the point that it can and may already be happening in our community.
He told the group there are 1.6 million runaways every day and one out of seven runaways are trafficked.
McCleary recommends that parents know who their children are friends with and where they're spending their time. He says children shouldn't even being at the mall unsupervised.
