For FOX 31's Facebook story of the day, fans wanted to know how much water they should consume during extreme heat?
Officials said activity level is a good way to determine a person's water consumption.
For example, a busy person or someone who participates in strenuous activity should consume extra liquids before and after the event to make sure they stay hydrated.
People who are less active may not have to intake as much water.
One firefighter said in this heat everyone needs a little more water.
"On average we are supposed to be drinking about eight cups a day," said Albany Fire Department Firefighter Robert Phillips, "In this heat, we should at least be drinking at least one and a half that amount. I guess somewhere around twelve cups a day."
